Love Your Library

Thanks to the generous support of the Jack Buchner Foundation, 
donations made to Pleasant Hills Public Library throughout the month of September will be MATCHED on a prorated basis up to $500 per donor.

This September, libraries across Allegheny County are inviting residents to participate in a special fundraising collaboration to show their Library some LOVE by supporting and investing in their libraries.

Love Your Library Bingo FUN-Raiser!
 Monday, September 23
6:00 - 7:30 pm
Round up your game loving friends and family
for a few laughs while you help the Library, too!
 Only $0.50 per game, per card, per person. 

Refreshments (baked goods, chips and other snacks)
 will be available for purchase as well.
All ages welcome!!

Paint 'N Sip Library Fundraiser
 Friday, September 20
7:00 - 10:00 pm

Melissa Jusko returns with another step by step painting party.
By the end of the evening you will have had a fabulous time
and completed a masterpiece to take home!
Complimentary snacks and light drinks provided; BYOB to sip and share.
Invite your friends to enjoy the fun!

Cost is $30 per person.
$5 from each participant helps support the library.

The Mystery and Mayhem Book Club: 
group normally meets @ 1 p.m. on the first Monday of every month. 
Read and discuss mystery and suspense books. Copies of the books will be available in adcvance at the front desk. Monthly book choices:

Each month, there will be 15 free copies available to keep for those wishing to participate in each months discussion, thanks to a very generous donation by the Mary S. Bieseck Public Library in Somerset, Pa. 


Evening Book Discussion Group: 
Book discussions are held the third Monday of the month @ 7 p.m. in the library program room. Monthly book selections range from classics to best sellers. Copies of the books are available by request at the front desk.

The Scribe's Sanctuary: A Writer's Group:

The group meets the second Tuesday of every month 
in the library program room from  6:30 - 8 p.m.
Looking for a group to ignite your natural creative writing talents in an encouraging and supportive environment?  Then this is the group for you!  Members offer and receive support and encouragements to other writers of all genre and writing levels.

Coffee and Coloring: An Adult Coloring Club
We will meet the second Wednesday of every month @ 1 p.m. 
in the Adult Reading Area. 
Coloring books and pencils will be provided, or bring your own if you prefer!
Also, enjoy some coffee on us as well, 
or purchase something yummy from our K-cup selections and use our Keurig for $1.

UnWind: A Knitting and Crocheting Club
Group gathers the second and fourth Wednesday of every month at the tables outside of the program room on the lower level of the library.
Come and learn basic knitting and crocheting skills or work on our current project with likeminded friends. Share or recieve tips and advice with fellow crafters. 
You will need to bring your own needles and yarn.

Conversation Salon
 Gather from 1-3 p.m., the first Friday of every month, in the library program room

Fall Wise Walk

The Piggyback Flight Pilot’s Journey

The story of author’s father, Glenn Rojohn, a Legendary World War II 100th Bomb Group B-17 bomber Pilot and how he defied the odds December 31, 1944.  Due to circumstances beyond his control, he and his co-pilot  flew two conjoined B-17s and lived to tell the story.


Photo Organization Presentation

Are they saved on your phone, computer, and  flash drive? 
Do you have even more in boxes, VHS tapes, or even the old negatives?
If this sounds like you, and you are looking for a way to organize your entire collection, then you don't want to miss this program! 
Lisa Webster, from Grand Scale Video Productions (located in Canonsburg, PA), will be sharing her expertise during this program to help us find peace of mind and a final home for our photo collections! 
All you will need is to show up with a pen and pencil, and she will help us get started.

Holiday Themed Wine Bottle Craft

Thursday, November 7th from 6:30 - 8 p.m.

Gypsy Artistry, a traveling pop-up crafting studio based in the Greater Pittsburgh area, will return to offer another  fun and creative DIY workshop. This will also be a fundraiser for the library, which we greatly appreciate!
This time we will be transforming an empty wine bottle into a beautiful light for your home.
All supplies and instructions provided. All participants must register and pay in advance, no walk-ins permitted.
Workshop is $27 plus tax. Register online, which will be provided shortly so check back soon.  Hope to see you there!

        Library Wine Tasting Fundraiser
         
  Saturday November 9 from 7 - 9 p.m.

"A Taste of Italy"

Featuring a variety of wines, appetizers, music and fun!
                                   Raffle baskets and 50/50 for an additional cost.                                    
Tickets $30/ per person.  Must be 21 years old to purchase tickets and attend this event.

 Beginner Genealogy Lesson
         
  Saturday November 16  from 7 - 9 p.m.


Taught by guest instructor, Teena Hintz, learn about the basics of 
Genealogy. Learn how to use the online resources available at the 
library such as Ancestry.com Library Edition, Familysearch.org, and others. 

 The program will start with a brief discussion covering online 
databases, charts and tools, including DNA matching. Then, after the
 library closes, we will search for information on the library computers
with guided help from instructor. Bring a flash drive. Printing and 
Wifi for laptops also available. Limited class size, please register in advance.
